We missed out on visiting when we came over in 2005 and we didn't make it there when we did our site seeing on our arrival this March but yesterday, finally, we made the trip to see Buckingham Palace!
Once we arrived we were a little taken aback by the amount of people there, a summer Saturday is not a good time to visit any of London's tourist hot spots. After about 5 minutes of screaming children and yelling parents we went for a walk through St James Park just across the road from the palace. The views from the park of the palace and back towards the city are beautiful, better then being close up.
On the way home we jumped off the tube at Knightsbridge and made a quick trip into the amusement park that is Harrods. What a mistake that was, it was packed! It was the once a year sale, we could hardly move so we grabbed ourselves a ridiculously overpriced gelati and a tin of biscuits and made our escape.
Sunday was a warm but cloudy day so we decided to pack up a yummy pasta salad and our Harrods biscuits and headed down to Ravenscourt Park, just a few streets away from us. There is a beautiful walled garden there maintained by volunteers full of flowers, bees and butterflies which gave us a chance to play with our new camera. As we wandered home there were some ominous rumbles of thunder and then the sky opened and it poured!Back to work tomorrow, my last week before the summer holidays and only one week until the last Harry Potter book comes out! Off to see the new film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix this week, very excited!
