Friday started with flooding in the city which thankfully finished before Mike arrived. All the basement flats along our street now have water soaked carpet and swollen furniture sitting outside with the bins, some had to get water removal vans in, the actual downpour only lasted an hour!
More importantly Friday saw the arrival of Mike (Clair is still in Ireland) in London before we all head up to the highlands in Scotland next week for Mike's 30th birthday. After getting a bit of a hard time off immigration at Heathrow Mike emerged to find the boys waiting with a cool beer, yes in the airport!
Saturday morning the rugby was playing at The Walkabout in Sheppard' s Bush, the "Australian" pub in London full of yobs and nothing like a good Aussie pub. So Mike and Dan took themselves off to watch the game which started at 8am! By the time I met them (2pm) they were not making much sense and there were a lot of empty pint glasses! Gregg, Natasha and Alex were all there too and we thankfully left as groups of guys started smashing glasses on their own heads, and headed into central London for more drinking.
Sunday was a lovely sunny day and we headed into Covent Garden to meet up with Leah, ALex and Mike and do a spot of shopping. Off to continue reading...
