Angie's Birthday Weekend

It was a weekend of rather unsettled weather and changing plans. Friday night we had dinner with one of Dan's workmates for his birthday. He is s Brissy boy too and so were all his friends who came to dinner- the whole table were not just from Australia but Brisbane! We went to Brick Lane for Indian. We had never been to Brick Lane before and it was brilliant! Matt (the birthday boy) haggled until we got two rounds of free drinks for the whole table- not bad. It was a little depressing to go out for a 24 year olds birthday - we were the oldest at the table!

On Saturday we were looking forward having a proper look at the Portobello Road markets as last time we were there was a Sunday and there were only a few stalls but when we got there it absolutely bucketed down on us! Everyone was running for cover and we could not get a seat anywhere. Everyone was crowed into the shops and cafes to try and stay dry. Then the sun came out just long enough for everyone to wander back outside and the tarps to come off the stalls before bucketing down again! We decided to cut our losses and head home to get warm and dry. On the way we discovered a little coffee shop on Goldhawk Road, the street which runs along the bottom of our road. Goldhawk Road is a little dodgy and not a very pretty street but this cafe is just gorgeous. We had a coffee and played Uno, a duet of pleasures!

Sunday was a much nicer day so we headed to Regents Park for some boating! I managed to convince Dan to get a peddle boat instead of a row boat which was so much fun! After a morning spent boating we headed to Kensington High Street which is our closest shopping area (very fancy) to have a look at the shops. We did our grocery shopping at the new organic supermarket, Whole Foods, battling though the crowds to buy ourselves some treats such as lavender honey and Wilkin & Son brown sauce!
